| It can be really hard to sleep when you have vivid dreams. I dont dream that much anymore with what little sleep i get, maybe that's why. But i have suffered night terrors so i know where your coming from Pandora. I have a friend that has the most horrendous dreams every night and it can have an affect. Im sorry to hear your getting these kind of dreams. Try avoiding thinking or reading, viewing any material associated with your dreams for a while. I know that can be hard to do with how much they bombard us with bad news. But to try focusing on uplifting or funny thoughts. Im sure you have tried most remedies and looked into it. I hope it gets better and they go soon Out of interest how long have you been having them now? | |

| Oh well at least it's not months or years! That's what i was afraid you were going to say. So i would still say the same. Try something different or maybe a change of routine a little. Focus on Merlin when you sleep. They say cat's have the power to protect us. I think hopefully they will pass in time | |

| The word compartmenatilization comes to mind pandora. When yer walking yer concentrating on where yer going and what yer going to do when you get there, the reasons behind it and what you expect to gain by it.
Stairs and walking both up and down ,up coming reaching the goal intended and down leaving or returning with or without what yer were seeking. Trains have compartments.A concentration camp and the horrors, we tend to compartmenatelize the different areas of concentration or things we concentrate on -sometimes it becomes over loaded. Pressing issues.
Stairs are kind of simbolic of stepping up or down away from. Which way is it ?There may be a pressing issue going on with-in you that yer stepping down away from when yer should be stepping up to it. Fear fer whatever the reason may be at the root of that which you must confront.
Dreams can be as complicated as is much of what goes on in our minds but the key to finding out what it's all about in yer dreams or even the scary one's is simplicity-you have nothing to fear ,that is what you say to yerself befor you enter into sleep-make yer goal in yer sleep to confront whatever it is that you fear in dream secessions.
Sometimes you see in the walking state-walking state is when yer awake and up and running, there are pressing issues we must deal with but either can't or won't or forever put it off.
In confronting yer fear in yer dreams, that is called rise to the occasion.
The staircase can be simbolic of either rising or declining to take that step up.
See it through for whatever it is and what-ever it turns into. And you have nothing to fear.
Here's a dream that seemed completely nonsensical. Stuck in a swamp in a dark wooded area raining hard in mud up to my waste, no way out of it like drowning or about to suffocate.Scene changes and Eric Burdon is up on a stage couldn't make out what he was say'en than Eric Burdon is replaced with Bob Hope -strange.
At the time I was doing a juggling act between school and work and bills piling up and books to buy and on and on and so on. A lot of stuff going on and doom and gloom is all that there was or so it seemed to me.
I recall thinking awake and walking tword me coffer pot so's to prepare me morning eye opener, what a strange freaky dream-
But suddenly it occured to me in the process of making coffee and at the same time books and bills and that job and the pressure of school,
I get it, that has to be it.
Through the burdon there is hope. ! You see the entire situation seemed hopeless but really it wasn't.
Soon after at the job I got a position hike which came with a raise in pay and that fixed a good chunk or those problems. couldn't have seen that coming.

| Iv found that if I concentrate to much on any given thing be it reading some thing for to long a period or doing some thing that iv really had to concentrate a lot to do then that concentrated concentration tends to follow me when I try to go to sleep to rest, then I to find it difficult to rest and feel awful like lack of sleep come the morning, I find that you have to learn to put the thing's of the day work etc to one side give your brain a rest, let it rest naturally, this is one of the reason's I like to make fun or see the funny side of life as this take's one's thinking down a different path which infact is like giving your inner self a fatigue uplift boost for want of a better word, and try a little self meditation that also helps, sit still and try and empty out all thoughts try and completely blank out any thing go into your self,at first it is hard thing to do as images flitter in and out of your subconscious, but like the Hippie's of the sixty's found meditation can and dose go a great way in releasing the stress of the day, a good warm bath and a massage is also good for a good nights sleep, in other words you got to be boss over your own thoughts and rest. | |

| The good thing about bad dreams is that its quite pleasant when you wake up and realise that it was just a dream | |

| I have a dream book at home, sadly im not home im in England at the mo, most times i sleep like a log, the last strange dream i had i was hitching and a car stopped and the door opened and a Little dog jumped out, and out of nowhere a large dog appeared and ate him, in a couple of gulps, and i looked up what the dream meant and it said someone you know will die in the NeXT 2 days, they did as well, i think some dreams mean something, maybe those one cant remember are best, or maybe a really large glass of brandy ½ hour before you go to bed | |

| In a care home I worked in - one of my gentlemen was a soldier - who liberated belsen. He talked to me about it - which confirmed World at War and personal testimonies.
I think most of you know I'm "interested" in the holocaust.

| I used to get sleep paralysis/nightmares. Usually me being semi aware and awake but dreaming at the same time. I knew i was dreaming but could not move a muscle. And when it involves someone or something standing over your bed it can be quite disturbing. I always remember trying to literally slap myself awake but could never lift my arm to do it. lol Usually i would wake up not long after i was self aware. I could not do anything to stop it and they just stopped after a while.
I would certainly still suggest giving those kind of thoughts a break if possible. My friend has terrible nightmares about hospitals and she is a nurse so not much she can do about it. A vivid or over active imagination can also be a good trigger for it. If you think/read a lot and dont shut down and get enough restful sleep it's likely to happen. If you have only just started getting them recently hopefully they will just go in time. Has anything happened or changed lately that might have triggered these occurrences? A stressful event or upheaval can also be a trigger. I hope they do go soon my friend. I think relaxation and even a little quiet meditation can help like the guys have suggested:)
