Make your own insect repellent

  Hello bug lovers of Britain and the World at large    are you all fed up being chewed up by those Mossies etc  are you fed up paying through the nose for over the counter insect repellents  why not make your own  iv just mixed up a batch myself,have any of you lot got any recipes for deterring the flying little blood bandits,Heres the one i use and it works to.
Essential oils
1.Cinnamon oil 20 drops
2.Eucalyptus oil 20 drops
3.Cedar wood oil 20 drops
4.Lavender oil 20 drops
mix all together in a small spray bottle
and top up bottle with baby oil
make the Essential oils about 20%
baby oil 80%

One sniff of that and the little buggers zoom of  ok most do well you always get the odd die hard with a peg on its nose don't you   

The best way to deter them is to wear no deodrant, perfume, aftershave etc, also putting 2 or 3 drops of Citronella oil in your bath water helps to deter them.

We did all that in Egypt and it worked, then one evening thought I'd chance it and put a little perfume on...and a bugga bit me on the arm, ended up having to put an antibiotic cream and steroid cream on it, trust me to get bitten by mosquito with nasty germs!  

 Or you could order some Skin so Soft body lotion by Avon as used by the Royal Marines and S.A.S. among others   Yes you heard me correctly,no not to keep their Hands and bodies feeling all nice and soft and smelling oh so nice    it is widely used by them as a really good insect repellent  maybe because it contains among other things an oil called Citronella  and by the way the recipe above would be even better if you bunged some in that to Citronella oil that is.  

 Oh would you beleave it  L.G. Knows about Cintronella oil to  

Mosquitoes clearly don't like the scent of lemon

I've never knowingly killed anything since...

I'd spray an insect with essence of GIT !

Would that be your own homemade product then?   

No id catch Grumps in a big net, probably on his way to get the morning paper walking down The High Street...then id squeeze bits of him into a jar....and spray it onto insects..nice.

 Don't worry Grumpy Git,repellent don't kill the blighters it doe's what it say's repels,they don't like the smell they zoom of just like i did when my lad let one go i zoomed of fast as i could like  so Mummy would be proud of you if you made some insect repellent to chase them away without doing them in  so did you just admit to us all then that you're a Mummys boy then
