| Any ideas? Besides a mallet! Coffee, fresh air and long walks dont help either. | |

| Coffee? Caffeine keeps you awake lol! Before my days of knockout painkillers I would close my eyes and create an image in my mind of a little sandy tropical cove, clear blue sea and a gentle breeze blowing the leaves of palm trees and I'd drifted away | |

| There is no "cure" as such in my opinion, but something you may find helpful is finding the underlying cause for your sleeping issues. It might not always have a specific cause, but often it does to some degree. I think I remember you telling me once that you have had it for some time, so that probably rules out transient and short-term insomnia. However, just so you know, those types of insomnia are commonly caused by temporarily experiencing the following (as stated in this article): " - Stress
- Environmental noise
- Extreme temperatures
- Change in the surrounding environment
- Sleep/wake schedule problems such as those due to jet lag
- Medication side effects
" I listed those because some of these factors no doubt influence long-term insomnia too. The article also stated the following: " Chronic insomnia is more complex and often results from a combination of factors, including underlying physical or mental disorders. One of the most common causes of chronic insomnia is depression. Other underlying causes include arthritis, kidney disease, heart failure, asthma, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, Parkinson's disease, and hyperthyroidism. However, chronic insomnia may also be due to behavioral factors, including the misuse of caffeine, alcohol, or other substances; disrupted sleep/wake cycles as may occur with shift work or other nighttime activity schedules; and chronic stress.
In addition, the following behaviors have been shown to perpetuate insomnia in some people:
- Expecting to have difficulty sleeping and worrying about it
- Ingesting excessive amounts of caffeine
- Drinking alcohol before bedtime
- Smoking cigarettes before bedtime
- Excessive napping in the afternoon or evening
- Irregular or continually disrupted sleep/wake schedules
These behaviors may prolong existing insomnia, and they can also be responsible for causing the sleeping problem in the first place. Stopping these behaviors may eliminate the insomnia altogether." Here are some personal tips, as I have had sleeping problems for years. Some have helped me and others haven't: - I find food helpful. There are certain types of food which are shown to help us sleep. Some examples of good snooze food include dairy products (apart from chocolate, don't cheat!), rice, beans, hummus, eggs, whole grain, peanuts, meat and seafood. Good dinners for sleep include pasta with parmesan cheese, seafood, cottage cheese, hummus with whole wheat pita bread and non-spicy chilli with beans. Cereals are also known to help. If you have a sweet tooth, apple pie and ice-cream is included in the list of good snooze food. Here are some herbal tea suggestions too.
- Keep your bedroom dark at night. Any light inhibits the production of your sleep hormone, melatonin.
- Keeping your bedroom cool also helps. In order to sleep, your body temperature needs to drop. Keeping the window open during the day is important. While straightening the duvet over your bed is tidy, I suggest you keep it pulled away from the bed (you can do so neatly) to keep your bed cool before you sleep. If you often feel hot during the night, get a lighter duvet. I imagine in this bloody weather though, this isn't an issue.
- Hot baths and showers are a common way of trying to get some relaxation and sleep. Take one about an hour or two before sleep, but no later.
- Meditation can also be very helpful: Maybe you can look up different methods and types. Writing things down and just taking time out without distractions such as technology can really help.
- If anything, television, laptops, games etc. keep you awake. Even if you start feeling tired after a while, it stimulates your mind. Avoid turning to it when you struggle to sleep. I know for a fact that you turn to the internet when you can't sleep - your 3am posts prove that. :P I'm guilty of it too, but it just completely ruins any potential sleeping pattern in the long run!

| I recon the Kim jong who ever and the rest of them in North Korea are a load of idiots, you only got to watch them pranceing about on the News to see they are all 10p short of a £1 but the Trouble is there are so many of these Nutters think they have all been playing war game's on their X.Box's so long they have lost touch with reality some what, bet they dont like not getting their way this time and the South and the U.S.A. and the rest, calling their bluff,if it did kick of they would not stand a chance and every one knows it including them there selfs, the North would be no more, even China knows it and has told them to calme it down, think they have had enough those idiots same as the rest of the World, that Kim reminds me of a child that wonts a bag of M&M's and his Mother wont buy him them,so he is complaining and stamping his feet, needs a clip round the ear he dose,be better if China did the clipping tho i think. | |

| Yea Bev-he's like 30 years old and looking to push the limits further and wanting to grab a place in the form of a standing in the world forum.
It doesn't look to good right now and the so called experts are as baffeled as everybody else.
They keep changing their theories form one day to the next.
As it is the wack job cannot afford to lose face which means there is a high probability of a confrontation in the near future. Perhaps days away.
Much of it depends upon what really happens in the days ahead. The threat of firing up their nuclear reactor inrichment facility has the international community on high alert.
The South it seems is ready to meet the north any way the north sees it. This is indeed very different form anything we have seen in the past.
Not even China knows how to deal with him.
Nobody knows what the hell he is about. | |
